Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Wireless Touch Mouse Review

December 28, 2016

I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas this year!  If you’re like me, you may have received some cash and find that it is burning a hole in your pocket.  If you’re in the market for a new mouse, I sincerely recommend the new Thinkpad X1 wireless mouse from Lenovo.  At a mere 2.3 ounces, it is the lightest mouse I have ever used.   For those of you who have wrist fatigue concerns, a lighter mouse might be the way to go as it takes a significantly less amount of effort to move it across a surface.  This mouse is going to be a lifesaver when I am retouching and editing photos.  My wireless Lenovo mouse, which I love, weighs in at 3.5 ounces, which, at first glance doesn’t seem like that much heavier but in your hand it feels like a world of difference.  This mouse has a lithium rechargeable battery instead of the added weight of AA or AAA traditional batteries.  If you are a frequent traveler, this is definitely the mouse you want to pack for work on the go.  Additionally, for the travelers, one minute of charging allows for 1 hour of continuous use which is outstanding.

Out of the box, this is incredibly easy to set up.  The bottom plate of the mouse slides up to reveal the plug port, the usb dongle and the connectivity switch.  The mouse moves effortlessly across a smooth surface (in this case, my desk) and the clicking operation of the buttons is smooth.  My favorite thing about this mouse is the ability to vertically scroll pages without using a roller wheel.  There is a very thin strip located between the left and right buttons on the mouse, and running your finger up or down the middle area will scroll a page.  My biggest mouse pet peeve is that due to the fact that I am online so excessively, my roller wheel gets worn and I suffer a fair amount of discomfort in my scrolling finger (first world problems, I know). This mouse solves that problem by allowing scrolling with a mere touch.  I love it.  For purposes below, the mouse is shown in comparison to the Lenovo Professional wireless mouse I mentioned earlier.  Pick one up today currently on sale for $59.99 at Lenovo.
